MORNING LINE-UP
It is requested that parents do every thing in their power to support students riding the bus. There are a few exceptions that should be discussed with the Administration; health issues, students who do not live in the immediate Wood Acres area, students. In the case of one of these exceptions, parents should park legally safely on Radnor down near Tanglewood Drive and walk students to the main lobby of the school. Residents of Brite Drive have requested that we not park on their street due to resident parking and width of street. Parents should NOT drop students off in front of school and have them cross the street. This has resulted in many safety concerns since coming to Radnor Center.
Radnor: All students will dismiss from buses and line up on assigned blacktop areas. The first week of school, staff will assist patrols with students and escort them to line up areas. All students will enter the front doors of the building and proceed to their line up areas. Kindergarten and Grade 1 will line up in the building outside their classroom doors, Grade 2 and Grade 3 will line up on blacktop area by play equipment, Grade 4 and Grade 5 will line up on blacktop area by portables.
Rain line up: Students will enter the front doors and proceed to rehearsed line up areas. Kindergarten and Grade 1 will line up in their daily spot, Grade 2 and Grade 3 will have assigned spots in the hallways, Grade 4 and Grade 5 will line up in the cafeteria.
BUS TRANSPORTATION
We expect 12-15 bused for the 2015-2016 school year. Once revised bus schedules have been sent to us, we will post and send message out to parents. Please read them carefully. BUS ARRIVAL PROCEDURES – BUS LOOP
Buses enter the driveway from Wiltshire Blvd. and exit onto Cromwell Drive. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE DRIVEWAY OR EITHER STAFF PARKING LOTS. We encourage you to allow your child to ride the bus starting on the first day of school. You can follow the bus, park in the neighborhood, and meet your child at morning lineup, if necessary. It is beneficial for children to establish a routine from the first day. It instills confidence and minimizes confusion.
TRAFFIC PATTERN AND PROCEDURES FOR CARS
SCHOOL PARKING LOTS
The school parking lots are reserved for staff member parking only. Parents and visitors are asked to park on Tanglewood or Radnor outside of the bus zones. Please DO NOT park on Brite Drive. When adjacent to driveways, leave 10 feet on either side for neighbors to safely enter and exit driveway. .
PARENT DROP-OFF (KISS & GO LOOP)
We do not have a KISS AN GO LOOP at Radnor Center.
DISMISSAL PROCEDURES
All children will ride their bus the same bus to and from school. Exceptions to this are students who are in childcare. There will be a bus that rides to Wonders and Westmoreland Childcare after school. Due to capacity on buses, children may not ride a bus for playdates. Parents should arrange for playdates after the bus.
CHANGES TO DISMISSAL PLANS AND MESSAGES TO STUDENTS
PARENTS SHOULD MAKE ALL ARRANGEMENTS FOR CHILDREN’S AFTER-SCHOOL CARE/ACTIVITIES BEFORE THE SCHOOL DAY BEGINS. In an effort to keep all children safe, we request that students follow their regular dismissal routine, and then go to play dates and other activities from home, not from school. Our buses are full, so additional riders cannot be accommodated. Children are permitted to stay at school for activities that begin promply after school and are housed at Wood Acres. Any variation from your child’s daily routine requires a note from home, addressed to the teacher. If you have forgotten to send a note in the morning, you may fax a note to (301) 320-6536, or call the office prior to 2:30 p.m. After 2:30 p.m., the office staff is focused on dismissal, and cannot respond to email or convey last minute messages to teachers. Please do not email the teachers or secretaries regarding schedule changes – they do not always have the opportunity to check email midday, and we cannot ensure that your message will be received and delivered.
