LUNCH AND RECESS PROCEDURES
LUNCH INFORMATION
All schools in Montgomery County use an automated system for purchasing lunch and milk called School Nutrition Accountability Program (SNAP).
How does the program work?
1. Parents send in a check for the desired amount of money to be deposited into the child's lunch account. At the end of the year, any money left in a lunch account is transferred to the next school year.
2. Checks should be made payable to Wood Acres Cafeteria. Please use the prepayment form under the "Additional Notices. You can deposit money in your child’s SNAP account on August 26th at the Open House.
3. Lunch accounts may also be monitored and funded via MySchoolBucks.com. You will need your child's MCPS Student ID # to set up the account. ID numbers can be found on last year's report card. ID numbers are also available from your child's teacher, or the main office staff.
3. Each child will be assigned a PIN number (not to be confused with the student ID # mentioned above) . Your child will enter their PIN # and money will be deducted from the account when the child makes a purchase.
4. Ms. Brodie, cafeteria manager, sends home notices via backpack before an account is depleted.
5. Please note that if your child’s account is overdrawn at the end of the school year, you are responsible for reimbursing the school. Negative balances are not carried forward from year to year.
6. Should your child have no money in their account, they will be given a cheese sandwich for lunch. Parents will need to reimburse the school separately for the sandwich.

Application Process for Free and Reduced-price Meals
The application process for the Free and Reduced-price Meals System (FARMS) has changed from an individual student application to a household application. Parents and guardians will need to submit just one application that lists all the children in their household who attend Montgomery County Public Schools.
The applications are not pre-printed with student information as they were in the past, so it will be necessary for parents/guardians to list the names, ID numbers, birthdates, and schools of the children for whom they are applying. (Parents/guardians should be aware that, because all students from a household will apply on one application, only the youngest child in the household should receive an application the first week of school.) Please work with the main office staff, should you require assistance.
